Equine – Mounted Search & Rescue Specialists
Utilizing the power and endurance of horses to navigate difficult terrain in search and extraction operations
Equine Training
Members with equine training play a crucial role in search and rescue efforts by covering large areas of rough terrain quickly and efficiently. Horses provide an advantage in navigating trails, fields, and dense forests where vehicles may struggle, assisting in locating and aiding missing persons.
WCSO SAR includes members with specialized technical training in this area. While technical rescue operations are conducted by appropriately trained personnel, all members are encouraged to participate in training opportunities to become familiar with the equipment, procedures, and supporting roles necessary for successful rescue operations.
