Ropes Training
Technical Ropes Rescue is a professional certification allowing for safe and effective rescue operations. Certified members use skills in rope rescue fundamentals, focusing on both high and low angle rescues. Skills used in ropes rescue include equipment selection, inspection and maintenance, knots, anchors, patient packaging, mechanical advantage systems, belaying, raising and lowering systems, system safety factors, litter rigging and tending, pickoffs, and stretcher evacuations. Frequent and continuous hands-on training gives this team the knowledge and skills necessary to respond quickly to technical rescue scenarios.
WCSO SAR includes members with specialized technical training in this area. While technical rescue operations are conducted by appropriately trained personnel, all members are encouraged to participate in training opportunities to become familiar with the equipment, procedures, and supporting roles necessary for successful rescue operations.
