Ropes Team – Technical Rescue Specialists

Ropes Rescue Team consists of approximately 10 members trained and certified in technical ropes rescue. Professional certification is a requirement of this team in order to conduct safe and effective rescue operations. This is a dedicated team employing skills used in rope rescue fundamentals, focusing on both high and low angle rescues.  Skills used in ropes rescue include equipment selection, inspection and maintenance, knots, anchors, patient packaging, mechanical advantage systems, belaying, raising and lowering systems, system safety factors, litter rigging and tending, pickoffs, and stretcher evacuations. Frequent and continuous hands-on training gives this team the knowledge and skills necessary to respond quickly to technical rescue scenarios.
